About Dennis Jonsson Motor Products

The Beginnings

Dennis Jonsson's automotive career began in 1971 when he was hired at Bennet Motors in Prince George, British Columbia. He was employed as a lot attendant to wash and prepare new and used vehicles for delivery. A year later he was promoted to the Parts Department as a counterman and eventually became the Parts Manager. Dennis Jonsson continued working in Prince George until 1985 as Parts and Service Manager at various dealerships. During his time in the Central Interior he met Richard Duncan, they formed a partnership and together purchased Katila Chev-Olds from Leo Katila. The dealership was renamed Harbour Key Chev-Olds Ltd.

Dennis and Richard operated the business until 1992 when Richard moved to Victoria to pursue other business interests. At that time Dennis Jonsson became the sole owner and changed the name to Dennis Jonsson Chev Olds Ltd.

Expansion

In 1996 an opportunity arose to purchase the assets of Jim Pelk Pontiac Buick GMC and secure the Dealer Agreement for an expanded GM vehicle line. The Johnston Road location of the Pontiac Buick GMC dealership was closed and Dennis' Dealership became the single retailer of GM products in the Alberni Valley. Approximately one year later Dennis purchased property on Johnston Road across town and began construction of a premier automotive dealership. Today Dennis Jonsson Motor Products is a thriving automotive organization in one of the most advanced facilities in the province.

Our Staff

An organization is only as good as the people who work within it; this is something Dennis Jonsson has understood since day one. Much of Dennis Jonsson Motor Products staff have worked within the organization since its founding in 1985, and some even before. Over the years the staff at Dennis Jonsson Motor Products have become like family, and with that time they have also acquired an extensive knowledge of the automotive industry, which has only accelerated our success. Community Spirit

Over the past 21 years Dennis has been very involved in supporting various sports organizations, charities, as well as other community activities and he has been a volunteer firefighter for the past 14 years. Dennis and his wife Darlus believe Port Alberni is a great place to live, and understand that being part of a small community requires a commitment to help serve it and encourage its growth; they and their family look forward to many years of continued involvement in the Alberni Valley.
